Sussex Yoga’s β€˜Sun Celebration’ Mini Yoga Retreat in East Sussex

What would we be without the sun?

On Sunday 24th June 2024, I will be running my 3rd mini-retreat at my lovely Sussex Yoga studio. This summer retreat will focus on celebrating the sun, and takes place just after the summer solstice (which takes place on the 20th June this year). In yoga, the Sun is called Surya and is the heart of the world as all other planets revolve around it. It represents willpower, vitality and courage in life and that is the theme for my next upcoming mini retreat.

What to Expect

You can arrive any time from 9.45am to get yourself ready, have a cup of tea and walk around our lovely forest or field before we sit down on our mats in the studio at 10am. Places are limited so we’ll have plenty of space. Mats and props are provided. If the weather permits we may even do parts of the retreat outside so fingers crossed we have a lovely sun to salute on the day.

We’ll start the morning with a grounding practise and bodyscan before doing a 60 minute Hatha Strength & Flow sequence, focussing on our vitality, strength and courage to set us up for the day ahead.

We will then do some rejuvenating Face Yoga before taking a 45 minute break.

During the break, healthy juices, herbal teas, fresh fruit and healthy snacks will be served and everyone will have the chance to ask questions or go for a walk in our forest or field or just enjoy the sun in the lovely garden.

After lunch we will sit down to do some breathwork practises. Breathing correctly can help lower anxiety and stress, improve your immune system, lower blood pressure and heart rate and increase physical energy and increase feelings of calm and wellbeing.

This will be followed by a 60 minute Yin Yoga sequence. Yin yoga is known to improve emotional balance, improve circulation, increase overall flexibility and enhance the range of motion of your joints and ligaments.

We will then close the mini retreat with a calming 15 minute guided meditation.

Who is it for?

This retreat is aimed at all abilities. You can be completely new to yoga or you can be a seasoned yogi. The sequences are slow paced and modifications will be offered so that it is suitable for everyone.

If you are looking for some me-time to feel stronger yet calmer, if you are looking to increase your flexibility or your strength through yoga, is looking to de-stress or simply try face yoga or yin yoga if you have not tried that before, then this retreat is for you.

What is the cost?

The cost for the retreat is Β£60 and includes all classes, props, a selection of herbal teas, fresh fruit and healthy snacks. Once payment is made your booking is confirmed. Please note that there is limited spaces and space cannot be guaranteed until payment is made.

Is there free parking?

Yes, you can park on-site or nearby. All free.

Do I need to bring anything?

Mats and props will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own would you wish to do so.

A water bottle is always good to bring and you can bring a soft blanket for Savasana, meditation or for relaxing should you wish to do so.

Comfortable shoes if you want to go for a wander during break time.

What is the cancellation policy?

Free cancellation any time up until 7 days before the event. Full refund provided.

Cancellations within 7 days of the event will not be refunded unless the place can be re-sold to someone else before the day of the event.
